Basic Security Tips
Linuxhaxor has a list of some very basic security tips for Linux but they are mostly applicable to all platforms. They are indeed basic but I’ve seen many places where people do not care about these.

Neat set of baseline tips. When you get a bit more advanced, it’s worth having a look at the NSA security guide for linux It’s designed for RHEL, but a lot of the suggestions in there fit any linux distribution.

Erek, thanks for the link. I saw that they also had recommendations for Solaris 8 and 9 but none for 10 which I find a bit strange. But you are right, a lot of the recommendations are generic.
